We truly appreciate your support in making CURV a standout success. As Vancouver's only Passive House high-rise, CURV represents a rare investment opportunity, with projected completion in late 2030—giving your clients an exclusive advantage in securing today's pricing. Important Update — CURV's social housing component has been replaced with market rental homes, fully owned and managed by Brivia Group—further securing the long-term value and desirability. Public Hearing: Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 6:00 pm The City of Vancouver has received an application to amend the CD-1 (836) (Comprehensive Development) District By-law to permit the conversion of floor area originally intended for social housing into market rental housing. As a result, the total number of market rental housing units would increase from 50 to 174. The social housing obligation of the project will be met through a cash-in-lieu payment, which will be used to deliver off-site social housing. Additionally, the amendment would allow for the exclusion of balconies on the building's east and west sides that are enclosed to assist in meeting Passive House sustainability standards. The proposed amendments would have no significant impacts to the approved form of development. This application is being considered under the West End Rezoning Policy(External link).
Downtown Vancouver’s future third tallest and greenest building is moving forward to launch. In fact, it will also be the world’s tallest certified Passive House green building. The 60-storey, mixed-housing tenure tower that is set to rise at the mid-block site of 1059-1075 Nelson Street — between Thurlow and Burrard streets — has now been named CURV. Since seeing its rezoning application approved by Vancouver City Council in June 2020, the project’s ownership has changed hands from Vancouver-based Henson Developments to Montreal-based Brivia Group, which completed its acquisition last fall. As well, the project has gone through some minor exterior design changes after the city’s Urban Design Panel review, and the development permit application was subsequently approved earlier this month. The tower will contain a total of 501 homes, including 102 units of social housing and 49 secured market rental homes on the lower floors, and 350 market condominium homes on the levels above. Various common amenities for residents will be scattered across the building, including a children’s outdoor play area and ground level, and a significant amenity on the tower rooftop level that includes a hot tub, lounge area, BBQ kitchen with dining area.
