Blatchford

Blatchford, the former Edmonton City Centre Airport site, is being redeveloped into a sustainable community. Construction began in 2019, with the first residents moving in around late 2020. The plan is to ultimately house 30,000 people and feature a mix of housing types, including townhouses and apartment buildings, with varying heights, including four- to six-storey structures. While the initial plan called for 2,750 homes by 2022, progress has been slower. As of January 2025, about 401 units were completed or under construction. The full build-out of Blatchford is expected to take about 20 years
